Cynthia "Cindy" Ellen Haglund (Fevig), of Aberdeen, SD, and The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
The family, while appreciating everyone's unbelievable support, asks for no gifts or cards but instead suggests that a great way of honoring Cindy would be a donation to the Aberdeen Humane Society.
Cindy requested no public funeral or memorial service, but the family will be holding a private Celebration of Life over one of her favorite holidays, the Fourth of July. Keep an eye out for her pontoon during Mina Lake's annual boat parade.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.
Cindy was born on October 4, 1946, in Fargo, ND. Cindy was the beloved wife of David Haglund for over 60 years, and together they built a life full of love and adventure, raising five children: Anthony (Tony), Heidi (Morrissey), Brian, Mark, and Heather (Scheidt). Her children gratefully remember how active she was in their childhood lives volunteering for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Sunday School teacher, 4-H, PTA (including President of the May Overby chapter), Boys and Girls Club and so much more. These days, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, bringing her endless joy. Cindy treasured every moment spent with them.
In the early 1990s, after the passing of her father, Cindy found a special bond with her mother, Elizabeth Fevig, through the art of quilting. What began as a shared pastime became a lifelong passion, as Cindy created countless quilts, table runners and wall hangings, each a testament to her love and creativity. Her family cherished these handmade gifts, and she generously shared her talents with others, teaching quilting techniques and offering creative ideas to those eager to learn. She even had her own quilting business for a time, Quilter's Circle. In addition, she co-founded the national franchise company Kitchen Tune-Up, with her husband. For nearly 50 years, she has been involved with our local Extension Club as well as numerous quilt guilds and doll clubs.
Cindy found serenity in the gentle sounds of waves on the shores of their home overlooking Mina Lake. She delighted in collecting, especially her cherished dolls, which she displayed creatively throughout her home. Friends and family visiting Cindy were treated to a glimpse of her numerous whimsical collections, but her dolls, in particular, were a source of pride and joy which she displayed widely and creatively throughout their homes. In the winter months, she and David lived in The Villages, FL, where daily golf cart rides led to many adventures-listening to music in the town squares, hunting for squirrels with their dog Maggie, and feeding the ducks at local ponds.
Cindy's warmth, creativity, and boundless love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the beautiful memories she created and the lasting impact she made on everyone she touched.
