She then graduated from Sharon Regional School of Nursing at the top of her class, then went to the University of Pittsburgh, and completed her bachelor's degree with honors to become an RN.
Cynthia spent 32 years as a registered nurse, spending the majority of her career at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and Sharon Regional Hospital, working 12-hour shifts in the I.C.U. and C.C.U. She completed her career as a Director of Nursing at various locations.

She also leaves behind her 18-year-old cat, Halo.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Oscar and Rosemary Thomas; and her paternal grandparents, Mark and Norma Hofius.
In keeping with Cynthia's wishes, there will be no services.
