Cynthia "Babette" Lathrop
Babette passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday afternoon September 16, 2023. Babette was married to Tim Lathrop for 41 years and they had three loving and caring children along with four beautiful grandchildren. Babette spent most of her life in the Kansas City area with the last 22 years being in Raytown, Mo. She was a 1979 graduate of Bishop Lillis High School in Kansas City, Mo. Her children are Tim Lathrop Jr. and his wife Samantha and their daughter Makynzi, of Raytown Mo., Ashley Lathrop of Raytown, Mo., and Brandon Lathrop and his wife Sarah and sons Keaten McCanless-Romeo, Kaleb and Kyler of Tarkio, Mo. Babette is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Octavia Metoyer. Her sisters Grace Henderson, Bridgette Metoyer and Gina Metoyer, brothers Louis Metoyer Jr., Larry Metoyer, Terry Metoyer, and Donald Metoyer. She leaves behind brothers Gregory Metoyer of Kansas City, Mo., John Metoyer and wife Ann of Kansas City, Mo., Marty Metoyer and wife Angela of Smithville, Mo., sisters Rosalie Wahlen of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Carolyn Hamilton of Mountaintop, Pa., along with many nieces and nephews who loved and cared deeply for her.
Babette battled Muscular Dystrophy fiercely and courageously. She never complained but rather fought harder the tougher things got. She was truly an inspiration to all those who knew her. She was very giving and compassionate to everyone and would always have a smile to share with you. Her favorite part of life was her grandchildren who were the sparkle in her eyes. Babette will be dearly missed but will forever be watching over her loved ones.
Services will be at St. Regis Catholic Church 8941 James A. Reed Kansas City, Mo. 64138 on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 10:00 am where a Catholic Mass of remembrance will be said. There will be a visitation prior to mass at 9:00 am. Burial of the ashes will be immediately following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, Mo. 64138.
In lieu of flowers, if capable, please consider a donation of blood in honor of Babette at your local blood bank. Babette received several units of life saving blood and would be honored to be given the opportunity to save the lives of others as they did hers.
Also, please consider being a donor if not already. Babette was able to provide the gift of sight to two individuals through cornea donation. She was also able to aide in the research of finding a cure for diabetes through tissue donation.
