Pierce, a beloved matriarch, devoted nurse, and cherished member of her community, departed this life at her home in Orlando, Florida, on November 23, 2025, just days before her 84th birthday. Born on November 29, 1941, in St. Andrew, Jamaica, Cynthia lived a life rich with love, laughter, and service to others.
Cynthia’s career as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) was marked by her unwavering dedication, both as a private duty nurse and through her extensive medical knowledge. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Nursing from Michigan State University, a testament to her passion for healthcare and her commitment to helping those in need. In addition to her nursing qualifications, Cynthia was also a licensed beautician, having earned her certification from Wilfred Academy.
A fun-loving individual with a jovial sense of humor, Cynthia possessed the rare ability to find positivity even in challenging circumstances. Her expertise in both scientific and holistic medicine was not only a part of her profession but also a passion she loved to share with family and friends. Known for her love of children and her ability to effortlessly connect with multiple generations, Cynthia was the heart and soul of her family, creating a warm and loving environment for all.
In her leisure time, Cynthia enjoyed crocheting and engaging in arts and crafts, pursuits that reflected her creative spirit. She also had a fondness for watching Asian drama shows, which brought her joy and entertainment.
Cynthia is survived by her two daughters, Ava-Maria C. Pierce Preston and Leonie E. Barden, and her grandson, Lucas A. Brown. She leaves behind two sisters, Theresa A. Pierce and her husband, Steven, and Glynis Pierce; a brother, Dwayne Pierce and his wife, Denise; and cherished nieces and nephews, including Sean Pierce, Simone Pierce-Harding and her husband, Christian, Carry-Anne Pierce and her husband, Kareem, Devon Pierce, and Kaleb. She is also remembered fondly by her sister-in-law, Avril Pierce.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin J. Pierce and Florence (Bankersingh) Pierce; her brother, Caswell Pierce; and her beloved granddaughter, Cassandra Preston-Burke. The legacy of love and care that Cynthia imparted to her family and friends will be felt for generations to come.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Winter Park Chapel, 3806 Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, FL with Fr. Jose Munoz officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11 preceding the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 4301 S Chickasaw Trail, Orlando, FL 32829, to be announced.
Inurnment will take place at Queen of Angels Cemetery, Winter Park, FL.
In honoring Cynthia's remarkable life, we celebrate her contributions not only as a nurse but also as an inspiring force within her family and community. Her spirit will undoubtedly continue to shine through those she loved and served.
