Cynthia St. Romain Poret of Mansura, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on February 3rd, 2024 at the age of 71. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 51 years, Ray Poret, and their children, Joey Poret, Jason Poret, and Amber Poret.
“Cynch” was born on July 29th, 1952, to her late parents, Edmond and Betty Dufour St. Romain. She grew up alongside her siblings: Philip St. Romain (Lisa), Kenneth St. Romain (Lucille), Dale St. Romain, Rose Anne St. Romain, Sheila S. McWilliams (Hugh), Todd St. Romain (Sondra), and June S. Kennedy (Mark).
She was a dedicated member of the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Mansura. Her strong faith brought her solace and guided her throughout her life.
Cynch's passion for music shone through her work as a choir director for an impressive 45 years. Her commitment to nurturing musical talent and bringing communities together through harmonious melodies was unmatched. She touched the lives of countless individuals, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have learned from her.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Cynch was an active member and president of the Rotary Club of Bunkie. Through her involvement with this esteemed organization, she continually sought ways to uplift her community and make a positive difference.
For over three decades, Cynch dedicated her skills and compassion to Bunkie General Hospital as a home health nurse. Her unwavering commitment to providing quality care and support to her patients earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike.
Cynch's vivacious spirit and warm heart touched the lives of many, including her eight cherished grandchildren: Alec Poret, Drake Poret, Hailey Saulsbury, Cameron Saulsbury, Amilie Poret, Sophie Poret, Claire Poret, and Ava Poret. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass honoring Cynthia's life will be held on Tuesday, February 6th, 2024, at 11:15am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Blake Deshautelle. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation hours, beginning at 8:00am until 11:00am on the same day at Escude Funeral Home in Mansura. Following the Mass, interment will take place at St. Paul Catholic Mausoleum in Mansura.
Funeral arrangements have been respectfully entrusted to Escude Funeral Home (318-964-2324) located at 6608 Porterie St. Mansura, LA 71350.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Cynthia will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all those who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
