Funeral service for Lorena Cannon of Hamburg will begin at 11:00am, Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Moreauville. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery.
Sister Lorena Cannon entered this life on September 11th, 1935 in Hamburg, LA to the late George and Lucille Lavallais, she was called home to be with the Lord on October 9th, 2025 at the age of 90. Sis. Cannon accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. U.B. Brooks. She was a life long member of Shiloh Baptist Church and also a choir member.
Lorena entered holy matrimony to Wilbert Cannon. In this union one daughter, Gloria Cannon, was born. Sis Cannon was a cook at Valley View Nursing Home in Marksville, LA. For many years she worked for the Coco family and helped raise two children like her own, Mr. Bert and Ms. Suellen.
Lorena leaves to cherish her memories her grandchildren: Craig Cannon and Shannon Cannon both of Mansura, LA, Carla Thornton and Howard (Angie) Thornton both of Marksville, LA; three nephews: Downs Ladell, Jr., Downs B. Ladell, and Leon Watson; two God-children, Shirley Turner and Doris Coleman. She will be missed by a host of friends and relatives.
Lorena was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, twin sister, and her brother.
Visitation will begin at 9:00am until time of service on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Moreauville.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home (318-964-2324) 115 Lemoine St. Moreauville, LA 71355.
