CYNTHIA SMITH Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Texas Funeral Home, LLC - San Antonio on Sep. 7, 2025.
.Cynthia Lea Smith (Jones), known affectionately as Cindy to her friends and family, and Aunt Cindy or Nana to her many cousins, nieces, and nephews, passed away on August 27, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 44. Born on January 26, 1981, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Cindy grew into a woman whose life touched the lives of all who knew her.

Cindy's early years were spent in Texas before she moved back to Carlsbad, where she attended Carlsbad High School and graduated with the class of 1999. Her school days were filled with the formation of many lifelong friendships. After high school, Cindy returned to Texas, where she lived in Copperas Cove, Killeen, the Austin area, and San Antonio. She was never one to settle down in one place for too long.

Cindy never met a stranger. She would start up conversations with anyone nearby. Often, people she met in random places became friends with her in no time. Even when things were rough, Cindy would try to see the best in people. Her laughter was contagious, and her presence was a comfort to many. She spoke sarcasm fluently and loved to pick on those she loved. She would boldly share her opinions, but always tried to use her words to build up others. She also had a creative side that she often displayed through beautiful drawings and pictures that her children cherished. Cindy found great joy in the time spent with her children. She nurtured them with love, teaching them kindness, compassion, and the importance of family.

Cindy's love extended beyond her immediate family, as she cherished the moments shared with her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was the heart of family gatherings, often organizing events and ensuring that every celebration was memorable. Her interests were deeply rooted in the happiness of her loved ones.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Rodger and Rose Smith, and her daughter, Olivia. Cindy's legacy will continue in the lives of her daughters Crystal Jones and Myla Smith of Liberty Hill, her son Zachary Smith of Copperas Cove, her longtime partner in life, Anthony Jones, her sister Patricia (Patty), and her husband Mike Carley of Winters Texas, her brother Jerry Smith and his wife Heather of Copperas Cove, Texas, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Cindy's journey on Earth may have concluded, but the memories she created will endure forever. She will be dearly missed, but we take solace in knowing that she is at peace, embraced by the love of our Creator.

Cindy's life will be honored as those who knew her remember the joy she brought to the world. As we remember her, we will share stories, laughter, and the love that she so freely gave. Her spirit, a gentle and nurturing force, will be our guide as we navigate the days ahead without her physical presence, but with her love forever etched in our souls.

He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, "Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else."
