D. Mollere Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home - Ponchatoula on Jan. 5, 2026.
"Johny", age 82, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026. He was a resident of Ponchatoula, LA. John proudly served his country in the United States Air National Guard. A faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Ponchatoula, his faith guided the way he lived and served others. Throughout his lifetime Johny was an avid member of many service organizations including the Ponchatoula Jaycees and Kiwanis Clubs. As Ponchatoula's first State Farm Insurance Agent, he built more than a career over 51 years, he built relationships and numerous friendships. Johny had a special place in his heart for local youth sports and could often be found supporting young athletes in any way he could. A true car enthusiast, he found joy in restoring classic cars and attending numerous car shows. He loved to travel in his RV, embracing every opportunity to explore new places and make lasting memories. In his younger years, Johny spent every weekend going down the Tangipahoa River with friends and family. He adored his family deeply and went out of his way to make sure they were always cared for, guided, and loved. His life leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, hard work, and devotion to family that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Donna R. Mollere; daughters, Lisa Spriggs (Michael), Karin Mollere (John), Arlene Pugh (Jeffery); sons, Christopher Hurst, Willie Hurst (Shawn); sisters, Bertha Deffes, Susan Rogers (Bruce); grandchildren, Joseph Petz (Mary Ruth), Jordan Chalmers (Dusty), Michael Evan Spriggs (Kyah), Brooklee Acosta (Colton), Lacee Hurst, Brianna Howes (Brennan), Bricklen Pugh (Megan), Lisa Lynn Brady, Kasslyn Pugh, Kelly Brady, Joshua Pugh; 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and one niece and nephew.

Johny is preceded in death by his parents, Loys and Nell Mollere.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at First United Methodist Church of Ponchatoula on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery.

John was a friend whom I admired. His work in the life industry was admirable. Always welcoming; always ready to help. We at State Farm share your sorrow at our loss of a husband, father, and agent and friend.
