With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Dahlia Siders, who we lost too soon on November 10, 2024 at the age of 12. She was a bright light who loved animals (especially narwhals and axolotls) and nature. Dahlia enjoyed sports from an early age. She played on the Howell Recreation Soccer team from the age of 3 and began swimming when she was just 6 months old. She went on to swim for South Lyon Aquatics and the Howell Middle School Swim Team. Dahlia was also a creative soul and was a member of Team KRASH, the middle school robotics team. She was a proud member of the Girl Scouts. As a toddler, Dahlia would tag along with her sister to meetings until she was old enough to join and was then a member for 8 years.
Dahlia brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with her kind heart, strong spirit, undaunted curiosity, infectious giggles and her love and affection. Though her time with us was too brief, the depth of love and happiness she shared will forever remain in our hearts.
Dahlia is survived by her parents, Nate and Angelina Siders; her sister, Sophia Siders; her grandparents, Phillip and Peggy Siders; Nick and Pat Gigliotti, Rita and Jim DeWitt; her aunts and uncles, Katy Gray [Sherman], Chelsea Wilkinson-Stover [Jason], Stephanie Carrico [Bryce], Tony Gigliotti [Krista], Delphina Branham [Daniel] and many cousins.
We invite all who cherished Dahlia to join us in a Celebration of Life Service on Monday, November 18th at 2/42 Community Center, 7526 Grand River Ave, Brighton, MI 48114. Please join us between 1:00pm-7:00pm to pay your respects to the family and from 7:00pm-8:00pm people will be sharing their stories and memories of Dahlia. All are encouraged to wear any Howell Highlander sporting or club attire to honor Dahlia. For those moved to honor Dahlia's memory we would appreciate donations to Plant Trees for Others - Arbor Day Foundation, to create a lasting legacy of the love she shared for nature.
