Dal Curtis Coleman

Dal Curtis Coleman, age 70, passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2026, surrounded by his family who loved and adored him.

Dal was born on December 31, 1955, in Ogden, Utah, to Robert and Merle Coleman. He grew up in Brigham City, Utah, right against the mountain below the big “B.” Dal and his five siblings loved to laugh, tease, and go on all kinds of adventures. He attended Box Elder High School, where he was a student body officer, already showing the natural leadership and strong work ethic that would define his life.

Dal served a mission in Seoul, Korea, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—an experience he deeply loved and never wanted to end. Upon returning home, he began dating Julie Ann Cagle, a girl he had known since kindergarten. He fell in love, and she became his “Jewel,” the love of his life. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 12, 1979. Caring for Julie and their family became his greatest joy.

Dal worked as a Director of Hospital Pharmacy, where he was known for taking care of his staff like family and for his dedication to providing quality, compassionate care to the patients he served.

Dal loved Jesus Christ and lived as a quiet, powerful example of Christlike love. He continued to faithfully serve throughout his life in the Church. He was kind, fun, loving, funny, tender, and completely without guile. He thought of others before himself in all things, and his smile and laugh had a way of brightening anyone’s day. His greatest joy came from being with his sweetheart, Julie, their children, and as a big kid at heart, playing with his grandchildren. He loved watching movies, skiing with his kids, and yearly family vacations to Bear Lake. He had beautiful handwriting and wrote heartfelt notes and letters that his family will cherish forever. His happiest moments were simple ones: having his sweetheart, children, and grandchildren gathered together, laughing and talking in the family room or out in the backyard on warm evenings.

Dal is survived by his beloved wife, Julie; his children Steven (Tana) Coleman, Dustin (Laurie) Coleman, Nisa (Colby) Hancock, McKenzie Neumann, and Cade (Rally) Coleman; 21 grandchildren; and his first great-grandchild, Violet. He is also survived by his siblings Dennis Coleman, Kris (Craig) Robinette, David (Julie) Coleman, and Deen (Laurie) Coleman. Also surviving are his siblings-in-law Sherry Cagle, Brent (DeAnn) Cagle, Jill Kelly, and Jennifer (Keith) Price, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Merle Coleman; his brother Doug Coleman; his parents-in-law Jim and Helen Cagle; his sister-in-law Polly Coleman; his brother-in-law Bob Cagle; and his nephew Christopher Brown.

Dal’s family wishes to give special thanks and love to Andy, Jen, Yesse, Jan, and Amy, who cared for him with such angelic compassion in his final years and hours.

Dal’s life was full of love, service, laughter, and quiet goodness. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Viewings and Funeral Services

Viewings will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary in Farmington, Utah, on Friday, January 16, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., and Saturday, January 17, from 9:45–10:45 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, at 11:00 a.m., also at Russon Brothers Mortuary. A Facebook Live Stream of the service will be available here on the obituary 15 minutes prior to the start time of the funeral.
