Dale was the subject of my one and only Post Conviction Relief Appointment when I was a young lawyer and he had a great way of Mentoring a young lawyer and a keen sense of humor...I always enjoyed having him in Court when I was appointed to the Bench!!

Dale was bigger than life. A great attorney and mentor. We will not see the likes of him again. Rick Buchanan

Dale was one of a kind in four persons: a lawyer; a teacher; a friend; and a party person that was reminiscent of a character out of Animal House. And he was a kind man too, unless someone crossed the line with his clients. He came often to Nashville for the TN Assoc of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and I of course championed his visits, introducing him to all the bars as the former governor of S. Car. And we all laughed our silly heads off. We were active together in NACDL and of course, he was the hit of the meeting. Dale will be missed, and we offer our deepest sympathies over his passing. We also offer prayers for his family for healing and comfort during this time. Our memories of him always makes us smile with thoughts of him. That will be my blessing and I pray it is your blessing too.

Dale was all of the things people say: kind, sweet,a brilliant and passionate advocate, hilarious, thoughtful, a gentle giant. A prolific and constant teacher who showed my generation of defense lawyers a clear path on how to do a difficult job and also how to live fully despite the things we saw. I hope I never forget his laugh-deepest condolences to his family and appreciation for all the time you shared him with us.

For 13 wonderful years, I had the privilege of working with Dale, who welcomed me into his life like a second daughter. His humor, cheerfulness, kindness, empathy, and unwavering support touched the lives of everyone around him. His infectious laugh and captivating stories will be dearly missed. Dale was not only one of the finest criminal defense attorneys in the state but also a dedicated professional who always prioritized the well-being of his clients. I am filled with gratitude for Dale, as he not only inspired me but also played a crucial role in shaping the person I am today. Our shared memories, especially our cherished Lola lunches, will always hold a special place in my heart. Dale will be greatly missed.

I first heard of Dale Cobb while working at the CPD and he was with the Public Defender´s office. There were a number of police who weren´t fans because he was such a good attorney and defended his clients with enormous success. I later worked in the same office with Dale, but for a different attorney. Dale was very protective of the staff, and so very kind, polite, and friendly to everyone. I am sure he is in the arms of our Lord in paradise.

Scholar and gentleman are only two of Dale´s many attributes. He and I were paired together to test drive in the Porsche Driving Experience years ago. Being of similar girth, we were fairly certain none of the models we drive could it would turn over in the race course! His laugh was as hearty as his personality, and this world is a smaller place with his passing. Enjoy the next course, my friend.

Dale was my friend and one of the best criminal defense lawyers in this State. He was a giant, and there are large number of citizens of this State who owe him their freedom.

I met Dale around 1978 when I started working for the Charleston Co. I think he wax with the Public Defenders ofc back then. He was such a sweet sweet guy. He once told me a story about him being in a band back in college & how those were some happy times. I haven´t seen him in many years but I will miss him.
