Dale L. Hankey

Dale L. Hankey, of Armada, passed away on November 2, 2025, at the age of 75.
Dale is the cherished husband for 41 years of Carol (nee Schmidt); the loving father of Ryan Hankey; the dear brother-in-law of George Schmidt; and the beloved brother of Pam Stellman and Kathy Sandlin. Dale is preceded in death by his mother Dorothy (nee Kemmerling) Naglik, and his brother, Ronnie Hankey.
Dale graduated from Roseville High School in 1968. Soon after, he proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War, through 1971. After coming home, he was a Police Officer in Detroit for 26 years. Once retiring from law enforcement, he found work as General Motors security supervisor and continued that work until the time of his passing. Dale had deep faith. He loved the Lord, and he loved his church family, Grace Lutheran Fellowship in Romeo. Dale loved sports, especially his Detroit teams: the Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions, U of M football, Go Blue! the Texas Rangers and Texas Longhorns football. He envied those who lived in Texas. He enjoyed baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet. A quote from Dale "I thank God for every day that I can wake up and still smell the coffee." Dale will be greatly missed, and we will keep smelling the coffee for you.
Dale's family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, November 6, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday, November 7, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica. A funeral service will be held Grace Lutheran Fellowship, 7525 32 Mile Road, Romeo, on Saturday, November 8, instate from 10:30 a.m. until the time of his service at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery, Clinton Township.
