Dale Kahara

Dale Kahara, 81, of Wagner, WI passed away on August 14th after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by family. Dale was born on April 3, 1944, in Menominee, MI to the late Warner and Esther (Philipps) Kahara, and has been a lifelong resident of Wagner, WI.

Dale is survived by his wife of 55 years, Colleen, his daughter, Kelly (Phillip) Thompson, his cherished and only grandchild, Denaejah Thompson, his brother Butch Kahara, his sister Donna Kott, many nieces and nephews and his faithful four-legged companion, Maggie.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Warner and Esther Kahara; sister-in-law, Carol Kahara; and brother-in-law, Don Kott.

Dale served honorably in the Vietnam War for two years and was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. After his military service, he continued a life of hard work and commitment as a lifelong logger for DeLaet Enterprises. Outside of work, Dale's greatest passions were hunting, fishing, trapping and his garden – traditions he held close to his heart and shared with those he loved.

He will be remembered for his strength, his stories, his deep love for the outdoors, and the quiet pride he carried as both a veteran and family man.

The family would like to thank all who have supported them during this difficult time. A special thank you to Cornerstone Caregiving for all the wonderful support they provided, Bristol Hospice for their caring and compassion and Dr Alimpertis and his wonderful team of nurses that provided care and comfort for Dale and his family for the last three years.

Visitation will be held at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette on Thursday, August 21st from 3 until 6 p.m. Military Honors and a brief service will be conducted at 6 p.m.
