Dale Knechtel Obituary

Dale Knechtel
Dale Arthur Knechtel age 92, of Ooltewah, Tenn., formerly of Midland, passed away peacefully at his home on May 20, 2025. Dale was born to Simon and Gertrude (Armstrong) Knechtel on Februray 6, 1933 in Elkton, Michigan.
The family moved to Midland, where Dale attended Midland schools. Soon after his education, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served in the Korean War.
After the war, he married the former Shirley Case. They resided in Midland and raised their three children until her passing.
Dale was a member of the Sanford American Legion, served on many committees, and was involved in many community activities.
He then met Pamella Streeter; they were married on August 25, 1973; she survives him. A few years later they were blessed with the birth of daughter, Mellisa in 1975.
Dale was employed by the City of Midland Water Department. He retired after 35 years of service. He and Pam enjoyed retirement years living by the Tobacco River in Beaverton until their move to Ooltewah, Tenn., in 2012.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Clare, a man of deep faith and love for his Lord, his family, and his country.
He enjoyed his morning donuts, visiting the local ice cream parlor where they affectionately called him Mr. Truffle because he always ordered chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream. He loved mowing and caring for his lawn and watching Kelly Clarkston every day at 3 p.m. Dale enjoyed his blessed, long life, always a smile on his face, willing to help anyone in need. He will be sorely missed by all knew and loved him.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Pamella; and children, Sandra Pnacek, Dale S. Knechtel, Gayle (Doug) Porterfield, and Mellisa Hoffman. Grandchildren Cara (Dan) Leviere, Craig (Amy) Vandenberg, Jacqueline Mendoza, Steven (Sarah) Lincoln, Hannah Hoffman, and Lance (Nayha) Hoffman. Great-grandchildren, Izac, Cody, Collin, Delaney, Rhys, Chase, Dylan. Miles, Aspen, Teddy, and a great-great-grandson, due in July.
Brothers and sisters-in-law Chris (Sue) Streeter, Kendra (Kevin) Pelletier, Kevin (Dottie) Streeter, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Mellis and Alma Streeter; and son-in-law Henry Pnacek.
A memorial is being planned for late this summer; details will be released as soon as they are arranged.
