Send FlowersDale Miller, age 87, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1938, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Chester and Edith (Schwermer) Miller, who both have preceded him in death.
Dale is survived by his loving daughter, Amy (Steve) Pearson; his grandchildren, Brandon (Jordan) Pearson, Kayla (Randy Fern) Pearson, Anna Miller, Abby Miller and Olivia Miller. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marcia (Maldy) Miller; his son, Cary Miller; his brother, Dennis Miller; and his beloved yellow lab, Bailey.
Dale owned several acres of land that he fondly referred to as "the farm," where he loved to tinker, fish in the pond and spend time outdoors. In his early adult years, he worked as a milkman for Peter's Dairy. He also delivered The News-Dispatch to more than 350 residents who came to know and adore him along his motor route.
He had a natural talent for just about anything he tried – whether it was sports, hobbies or handiwork. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and competing in bowling leagues, and he was also a master at darts where he won a few state tournaments. In recent years, he found great joy in riding his e-trike along local bike trails, which became one of his favorite pastimes.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Legion John Franklin Miller Post 37, 756 E. U.S. Hwy. 20, Michigan City.
