Dale Eugene Smith

Dale Eugene Smith, 87, of Warren, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Heritage Pointe, with his family by his side.

He was born on October 20, 1938, in Huntington County, Indiana, to Ovid and Letha (Logan) Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary (Hayes) Smith, and his brother, Dean L. Smith.

Dale graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1956. On July 13, 1957, he married the love of his life, Helen Norma Miller, at the Dillman United Brethren Church in Wells County. Together, they built a life centered on faith, hard work, and family. Norma survives.

Dale dedicated 43½ years of his life to RCA/Thompson Consumer Electronics in Marion, retiring on May 30, 2000. Even in retirement, he remained active, helping on the farm and working in the family egg house until March of 2022.

He was a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures. Dale was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Cubs, Indiana University, Purdue, the Colts, and Huntington North. He also enjoyed bowling for many years, helping with farming, attending church, and most of all, spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children: Joh (Candy) Smith of Warren; Rhonda (Rick) Brubaker of Warren; Jeana (Douglas) McElhaney of Huntington; Jon (Kristy) Smith of Warren; Ron (Carrie) Smith of Carmel; and Jayne (Chris) Ripani of Brentwood, Tennessee.

He is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Leslie (Jeff) Morris; Lee (Drew) Smith; Kari (Josh) Heim; Krysta (Cory) Fornal; Kourtney (Brandon) Yoder; Lindsay (Collin) Snyder; Carley (Kyle) Platt; Rebecca (Kory) Pritchett; Andrew (Gabby) Smith; Garret (Sarah) Smith; Samantha Smith; and Eli, Luke, and Ali Ripani. His great-grandchildren: Isaac, Kaleb, Makayla, Ivy, and Samuel Morris; Lola, Finley, and Otto Smith; Ady, Ellyanna, and Kay Heim; Gabe and Ollie Fornal; Nate Yoder; Keaton and Whitley Snyder; Isiah and Brycen Platt and Rylan Pritchett.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Betty Smith of Huntington, Indiana, and step-sister, Janice (Richard) Brubaker.

Family and friends may gather to remember Dale from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Applegate Chapel at Heritage Pointe, 801 N. Huntington Avenue, Warren, Indiana.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Gerald Moreland officiating. Burial will follow at Red Men Cemetery in Warren.
