Dale Strand, 84, of Pine River, MN passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026 in Pine, River.
On February 29, 1964, Dale married the love of his life, Lavonne Strand. From that day on, the two shared more than 61 wonderful years together—proof that marrying on Leap Day was clearly a smart move.
Dale found joy in the simple pleasures of life: going to auctions and casinos, watching WWE wrestling, fixing John Deere and International Harvester tractors (even when they didn’t ask to be fixed), playing cards, and never passing up a good meat raffle. His great joy was ice cream—any flavor, any time, no excuses. Above all else, his greatest love was spending time with his family. He nurtured a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
When Dale was annoyed, his favorite saying was, “Find something to do.” Anyone who heard it knew that meant it was probably time to, well… find something to do.
Dale is survived by his children: Renee Berndt (Kurt) of Owatonna, MN; Thomas Strand (Linda Erdman) of Ellendale, MN; Roxanne Bruney (Billy Hurin) of Clover, SC; and Jeffrey Strand (Kristen) of Emily, MN. He was a proud grandfather to Shawn Berndt (Sarah), Stephanie Armstrong (Taylor), Suzy Nuetzman (David), Jonathan Bruney, and Ashley Bruney, and a very proud great-grandfather to Charlie Berndt, Addison Berndt, Grant Armstrong, Cole Armstrong, Drew Nuetzman, and Jackson Nuetzman—each of whom likely learned early on to stay busy around Grandpa.
Dale’s life was a testament to kindness, family, and finding happiness in the simple things. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, LaVonne Strand, on May 30, 2025; his parents, O’Clair and Clara Strand; his two sisters: Harriet Strand and Dallas Strand; and his one brother, Roger Strand. Dale will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him—and by anyone still wondering if now might be a good time to find something to do.
