Barbara Marie "Fauntleroy" Strand

Barbara Marie Fauntleroy Strand, daughter of the late Gladys Fauntleroy Fortune and the late Reginald Johnson, was born on August 30, 1946, at Northampton Accomack Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, Virginia. She peacefully departed this life on Friday, January 30, 2026, at her residence in Accomac, Virginia, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara received her education in the Northampton County Public School System. In 1963, she married the love of her life, Burley Strand. From this union, two children were born: Eric O'Brian (Pete) Strand, who preceded her in death, and Irnita Machelle Strand.

Barbara was employed by Tyson Foods (formerly Holly Farms) in Temperanceville, Virginia, and later continued her career with Perdue Farms in Accomac, Virginia, where she served as a Supervisor for many years until her retirement in 2012.

She was deeply family- and friend-oriented and enjoyed listening to virtual church services and gospel music. Barbara also cherished spending time with her daughter, traveling to Ocean City, Salisbury, and Delaware-especially enjoying trips to the slots.

In addition to her parents and son, Barbara was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Burley Strand, and her grandparents, Alberta and Edward Fauntleroy.

Left to cherish her fond and loving memories are her loving daughter, Irnita Charbonneau (Mark); two grandsons, Mark Jr. and Matthew; two great-grandchildren, Quaz and Mattelah, all of Chesa-peake, Virginia; one sister, Mary Fauntleroy Hall of Accomac, Virginia; one brother, Val Fauntleroy (Doris) of Snow Hill, Maryland; five brothers in-law; five sisters in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
