Dalia Algminas, 83, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Wilmette, Illinois. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend. She was an accomplished and highly valued administrative professional, and she dedicated her time to volunteer with church and the Girl Scouts. She loved reading, the beach, arts & crafts and being active with her friends and family.
Dalia was born on February 12, 1942, in Šiauliai, Lithuania. Amid the upheaval of World War II, in 1944 her family took refuge in Mannheim, Germany, where they lived in a displaced persons camp. In 1947, they migrated to The Hague in the Netherlands before eventually settling in the United States in 1955, in Chicago. Dalia married her husband of 64 years, Leo Algminas, in 1961. She became a U.S. citizen in 1962 and over the years lived and worked in Chicago and Park Ridge, Illinois, with her husband and family. Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Wilmette, Illinois.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Algminas; daughters Audra Ebling (Brian) and Kristina McGann (Joseph); and grandchildren Everett Ebling, August Ebling and Dalia McGann.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
