Dalian Lu Obituary
Born in Jiangsu, China, Dalian taught college Physics in his early years in Shanghai. He then immigrated to the US in his 50s, working as a scientist in Exxon Mobile. He also worked as a statistician in Data Solutions. After retirement, he and his wife spent lots of time with their daughter, travelling and enjoying the accompaniment of son-in-law and grandchildren.
Dalian was trained as a Physicist, but by nature, he was an artist. He loved Chinese painting and singing. He truly had a beautiful voice. To his only daughter and three grandchildren, he taught them Chinese literature, painting, English, Chinese chess, and most importantly, an optimistic way of life. He taught his daughter to take the risk of coming to the US and explore this new world. His grandchildren loved to listening to grandpa's fascinating stories of "the Three Kingdom".
Dalian had lived a full life. In heaven, he will live in peace forever and bless all of us on earth. Visiting hours are Sunday 3:30 - 5:00 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home. Committal is Private.

To Dalian Lu's family: I am very sorry to hear of Dalian Lu's passing. Dalian Lu was a colleague of ours from 1995-1997 in the Physics Department
at the University of Lethbridge (Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada). He joined my group as a postdoctoral fellow after completing his PhD with Michael
Morrow at Memorial University (St. John's, Newfoundland). Dalian was a wonderful colleague, and a very dedicated and skilled researcher. He had a
significant impact on my research program. Unfortunately, I did not have the funds to support him for more than 2 years, and he left Canada for the US. One of my colleagues remembers that Dalian was indeed a very good singer, and this colleague (originally from Bangladesh) was impressed that one day, Dalian sang a very popular Bangladeshi song in Chinese.
