Dallas Glenn Wheat, a loving husband, devoted father, cherished sibling, dear friend, and beloved uncle, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023, at the age of 69.
Born on October 26, 1953, in Elk Falls, Kansas, to parents Lowell and Nancy Ledbetter Wheat, Dallas spent his formative years in Pomona, Missouri. He was a graduate of Willow Springs High School, earning his diploma in 1971, and continued his education at Southwest Missouri State University.
On November 16, 1974, Dallas married the love of his life, Patti Smith, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, with whom he shared nearly five decades of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Dallas was an avid fisherman, finding solace by the water's edge, where he often shared his passion with family and friends.
Dallas's family was his greatest joy. He leaves behind his loving wife, Patti Wheat, and two sons, Jeremy Wheat (wife Jen) and Josh Wheat. He was also a beloved brother to his two sisters, Lowena Turner (husband Dwyaine) and Bonnie Sanders, and his three brothers, Don Wheat and his wife Judi in Elberta, Alabama, Joe Wheat in Willow Springs, Missouri, and Dennis Wheat and his wife Carol in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
In his professional life, Dallas worked for years as a project manager in energy control systems. His expertise in this field took him on a remarkable journey across the United States, where he contributed his skills to every military installation. His work left an indelible mark on the nation's energy infrastructure.
Dallas's gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and ability to bring smiles to those around him will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Nancy Wheat, his sister-in-law and his niece.
A celebration of Dallas's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together to honor his memory.
