Dalton Lloyd Shewbuirt, 85, of Paragould, was born in Childress, Arkansas on August 9, 1938, to the late Ernest and Bessie Farmer Shewbuirt. He was a graduate of Cardwell High School in the mid-1950s. Dalton dedicated 34 years of his life to Emerson Electric, where he excelled in Quality Control, before retiring. On January 3, 1964, he married his beloved wife, Velma Coleman, who survives him. Dalton was a devoted member of Center Hill Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Stacy McGhee; and sister, Linda Cloninger.
A passionate yardman, Dalton found solace in caring for his yard, keeping it impeccably maintained. His dedication to his yard was unwavering; he would mow it repeatedly until it met his high standards.
Dalton is survived by his bride of 60 years, Velma Shewbuirt; son, Steve (Kelly) Shewbuirt of Springfield, Missouri; granddaughters, Erica (Hunter) Spain and Korie Bryant; grandsons, Kendrix Bryant and D.J. Shewbuirt; great grandsons, Samuel Spain and Warren Spain; and soon-to-be great granddaughter, Abbigail Spain.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 5-7 PM at Heath Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday, June 14, 2024, at 1 PM at Heath Funeral Home with Michael Meredith and David Deffenbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Jackson, Asa Farmer, Hunter Spain, Mike Coleman, Donnie Hopkins, and Roth Gourley. In honor of Dalton, please send memorials to Crowley's Ridge Academy or St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
