Dalton Ray Tyson, 76

Dalton Ray 'Boots' Tyson passed away on January 16, 2026. He was born on September 28, 1949 in Basinger, Florida to Ralph Tyson and Elouise Storman. He was a member of Church of God. He was a resident of Okeechobee for the last 76 years. Boots was a man of few words but was always willing to listen and give advice. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. Besides raising his own kids, they took in many over the years, whether temporary or permanently. In his younger years he would build airboats and be out on the Kissimmee River riding with family or frog gigging. He loved spending time with family and sitting out back, around a fire, and having a cold beer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Tyson and Elouise Storman; sister, Emily McDaniels; and brothers, Kenneth Tyson, Paul Tyson, and Edward Tyson.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wilma Tyson (Diane) of Okeechobee, Florida; sons, Allen Pittman (Jenny) of South Carolina and Tye Tyson of Okeechobee, Florida; daughters, Sissy Green (Michael) and Sonja Tyson of Okeechobee, Florida; brother, Monroe Carter; nine grandchildren, Tamara, Cody, Montana, Trevor, Taylor, Travis, Trinity, Troy, and Trent; and seven great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm with a memorial service to follow on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Buxton Okeechobee Funeral Home.

Those wishing to leave a message of condolence may sign the register book at, www.OkeechobeeFuneralHome.com. All arrangements are entrusted to the direction and care of the Buxton Okeechobee Funeral Home, 400 North Parrott Avenue, Okeechobee, Florida, 34972.
