Damian Michael Sunkle

Oskaloosa. Damian Michael Sunkle, 12, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, June 12, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He was born January 25, 2011, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Adam Sunkle and Amanda Williams. Damian had just finished sixth grade at the Oskaloosa Middle School. He was looking forward to his seventh-grade year and playing football with his buddies and being in the school band. He loved to throw the football around in the yard with Travis and his brother. He enjoyed going to the races on Wednesday in Oskaloosa and on Saturday in Knoxville, fishing, and watching YouTube Shorts. He loved getting together with family and always enjoyed staying the night with his sisters and their families.
His family includes his mother and step-father, Amanda Williams and Travis Northway of Oskaloosa; his father, Adam Sunkle of Oskaloosa; two sisters, Morgan Bittner (Jeremy Davis) of Oskaloosa and Kimberly Bittner (fiancée Seth McCallum) of Beacon; his brother, Hunter Sunkle of Oskaloosa; his grandparents, Mike and Cynthia Williams and Fred and Bonnie Northway all of Oskaloosa; nephews, Ricky McCallum, Rhett Garner, and one on the way; aunts and uncles, Michael (Melissa) Williams and Cherlynn (Jason) Waite all of Oskaloosa; two cousins, Jaxon and Cole.
He was preceded in death by his close friend Robert Bittner.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, 2023, at 10:30am at the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Charlie McMillan officiating. As the family wishes Damian's body will be cremated following the funeral ceremony. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Thursday evening from 4-7 to greet friends and relatives.
