Dan Burton, age 69, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the morning of August 15, 2025 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Memorial services for Dan will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Dan Franklin Burton was born December 19, 1955 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the middle of three sons born to Bill and Donita (Campbell) Burton. Dan grew up in Marshalltown and attended Marshalltown High School, graduating in the Class of 1974.

He was united in marriage to Melinda Judge. From this union, Dan had two children, a son, Nicholas and daughter, Rachel. The two later separated. Dan was the owner of East Side Tire and Auto in Marshalltown where over the many years, had focused on automotive repairs. He officially retired in 2015. In his free time, Dan enjoyed going for rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, going hunting and spending time outdoors. He was a member of the Marshalltown Gun Club and often went out to do skeet shooting when he was able.

Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his daughter, Rachel Burton; his brother, Mark (Leslie) Burton; cousin, Mike (Bev) Burton and their family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Burton; his parents, Bill and Donita Burton; brother, Scott Burton; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
