Dan J. Crawford, formerly of Plainville, Kansas, passed away on November 26, 2025, at his home in Richardson, Texas, at the age of 50. He was born on December 1, 1974, in Plainville to William Cecil and Brenda D. (Kern) Crawford.

Dan grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School in 1993. He built a career in information technology. He most recently worked for Dust Free in Royse City, Texas, where he thrived in a field that suited his curiosity and problem-solving nature.

He had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved dogs, Rambo and Zoey, who were constant companions throughout his life. Dan enjoyed grilling food for friends, traveling—particularly going on cruises—and attending NASCAR races. He took pride in his yardwork and was always willing to lend a hand, including installing a sprinkler system for his Grandma Edna. It was believed that Edna considered Dan as her favorite grandkid! Among his extended family, Dan was known as Uncle Dan—warm, dependable, and full of quiet humor that endeared him to those who knew him best. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Dan is survived by his father, Cecil Crawford of Hays, Kansas; his brothers, John (Valerie) Crawford of Plainville, Kansas and Scott (Taryn) Crawford of Hays, Kansas; his special friends, Gregg and Heather Burnett of Quinlan, Texas and Jayme Clark of Hays, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Crawford; his paternal grandparents, Mary (Havlas) and Earl Crawford; and his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Edna (Darnell) Kern; and faithful companion Rambo.

May Dan be remembered for his kindness, his generosity, and the love he shared with all who were part of his life.

Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Plainville.

Memorials are suggested to Humane Society of Hays and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd, Plainville, KS 67663.
