Dan D. Hackenberg, 77, passed away on June 8, 2025. He was born Aug. 20, 1947, in Three Rivers, Michigan. He was the youngest son of the late Leon and Kathryn Hackenberg.
His presence will be greatly missed but we rejoice in the fact that he has gone to be with his Heavenly Father. He was a member of the Lone Star Missionary Baptist Church.
Dan worked as a pipeline operator and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for 35 years. He loved working around in his yard. He also enjoyed visiting his neighbors or anyone who pulled in the driveway and had time to visit. Dan never met a stranger. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. He made sure each of them had a special nickname he picked out just for them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Leon (Gordie) Hackenberg and David Hackenberg. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Laura Beth Hackenberg; children, Dana (Brad) Burns of Judsonia, Ark., and Dustin (Ashley) Hackenberg of Searcy, Ark.; grandchildren, Austin Burns, Alyssa (John) Sydow, Bode Hackenberg, Emery Hackenberg, and Scarlett Patterson; and great-grandchild, Knox Sydow.
