Dan Gordon Mooring

Dan Gordon Mooring, 85, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Wayne County on July 20, 1937, he was one of eleven children to the late John Vick Mooring and Mary Ezzell Mooring.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his siblings, Ray Mooring, Durwood Mooring, Helen Aycock, Charles Mooring, John "Pete" Mooring, and Harold Mooring.
Dan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faye Barnes Mooring; children, Carol Mooring Colvin (Richard), Connie Mooring Overby (Craig), and Alan Gordon Mooring; grandchildren, Troy, Brett, Chad, Kyle, Rachel, Tanner, Wilson, Ainsley, Mason, and Amelia; siblings, Wilma Monson, Billy Mooring, Ronald Mooring, and Richard Mooring; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints – Goldsboro 1st Ward. He retired from Firestone in Wilson where he worked as a forklift operator. Dan proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Dan enjoyed being outdoors. Nothing was more satisfying than a day on the golf course, sitting on the bank wetting a fishing line, or being at the beach. Dan was a family man and enjoyed spending time with those he loved.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Seymour Funeral Home. Following the visitation a graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
