Dan Rouse

Daniel Eugene Rouse, 73, of Fort Gibson, was born November 4, 1951, in Wichita, KS to Everett and Beatrice Marie Rouse and entered the Gates of Heaven on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at his home with his faithful and loving family by his side. Dan graduated from Circle High School in Towanda, KS in 1969 and started many years of higher education in Ministry. He attended Butler Jr. College of Eldorado, KS for two years. Dan met and married his best friend, Carol Lynn Purkey, on August 9, 1970, in Andover, KS; a marriage that stood the test of time of 55 years, one month, and 14 days. He went to work at Ralston Purina in Wichita, KS for a year and a half, when he was called to attend Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, TX in December of 1970 and graduated on January 28, 1973. He began preaching at the Huckabee, TX Church of Christ in October 1972 for 18 months. They moved back to Mulvane, KS where Dan preached at College Hill Church of Christ until 1974. He enrolled in Mission's Program at Sunset School of Preaching on January 1977 for a six-month program and began preaching at Portales, NM 2nd Street Church of Christ in June of 1977 where he preached for 16 years. Dan and Carol moved back to Lubbock, TX where Dan preached at Sunset Church of Christ for the next 12 years. He continued his theological education attending Rochester College of Religious Education receiving a Bachelor's degree in 1998. In September of 2005, they moved to Fort Gibson, OK where Dan became Minister at the Fort Gibson Church of Christ retiring in 2023 after 18 years of loyal service. He took the position of Elder in the Church until his passing. Dan's passions in life were his family and cherished his time playing golf. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Carol; four children, Stephanie Ann Rouse, Melissa Thomson, Adam Rouse and Eric Rouse; grandchildren, Sawyer Hall, Moses Thomson, Henry Thomson, Jaden Rouse, Eli Rouse, Elisabeth Rouse and foster granddaughter, Tsula; extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dan's life will be celebrated 11AM, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Fort Gibson Church of Christ with Minister Stephen Parker presiding and Barrett Vanlandingham leading songs. Those serving as honorary urn bearers are Adam Rouse, Eric Rouse, Jerry David Walker, Jimmy Huggins, Larry Moore, Terry Hackworth, David Perry and Jerry Keeley.
