Terry Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home - Fort Gibson on Jan. 16, 2026.
Terry Lee Moore, 66, of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma was born October 24, 1959, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Charles and Wanda Moore and passed away on January 16, 2026. Terry spent his life in Fort Gibson, childhood through grandparenthood. He held a few jobs in the delivery workforce before landing a position of UPS man, a title that he would hold for 27 years before retiring in October 2012. Terry met and married the love of his life, Cheryl Wells, on November 7, 1981. This marriage stood the test of time for 43 years before Cheryl's passing in March 2025. Terry's favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, whether that was Cheryl, the girls, or his grandkids, it didn't matter. His family was top priority, which was evident anytime you'd see him at all of their events from school plays, birthdays, pool days, and especially their games. He was his grandkid's biggest fan, no matter the sport or the weather, you could count on him to be there early for the best seat available. Terry, known for his green Jeep, loved being outdoors rock crawling at Gruber, camping and boating at Lake Tenkiller, and, in his younger years, hunting and fishing occupied a bit of his time. He was on the board for the ORV park in Braggs for 8 years, always looking for the chance to go mow or Jeep ride. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Gibson for most of life where he loved singing in the choir and serving on the building and grounds committee with Arthur Crittenden and Rick Thompson. Terry wanted to make this last statement clear: do not take life for granted. He lived life, made the memories, and will be so greatly missed.

Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Moore; his dad, Charles Moore; his mom, Wanda Moore; and father-in-law, Clyde Wells.

He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Criner and husband Adam of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; Terri Shannon and husband Eric of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; his grandsons, Eric Shannon, Jr., Quade Shannon, Braden Criner, and Jacen Criner; his favorite granddaughter, Emily Criner; his brothers from another mother (without whom he would not have made it this long), Randy Jones and wife Jennifer, Bub Rowan and wife Beverly; extended family and many friends.

A visitation is scheduled Monday, January 19, 2026 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with family receiving friends 5PM-7PM.

Terry's celebration of life will be 10AM Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with Pastor Don Blankenship officiating. A private family committal service will follow at Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson.
