Dana Gerard Dronet, 77, of D’Iberville, MS passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025 in Ocean Springs.
Dana was born on July 19, 1947 in Biloxi, MS. He was the son of Harry Paul Dronet and Mary Ellen Ziz Dronet. Brought up Catholic, Dana attended St. John’s Elementary School and Notre Dame High School. After high school he attended business school in Mobile, Alabama.
Dana worked at Ingalls Shipyard and retired after 25 years. He was the oldest of eight siblings. Because of his training in the Boy Scouts -Troop 213, Dana was credited at age 16 of saving his younger sister‘s life when she suffered a seizure and he performed CPR while keeping his composure.
Dana enjoyed life’s simple pleasures of family, watching westerns, the Atlanta Braves baseball games, visiting his dad’s shop and the company of D’ Iberville locals, collecting stamps in his younger years, league bowling and his beloved dogs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Ellen; his first wife, Brenda Plaisance Dronet; his second wife, Karen Dronet; his sister, Kathryn Dronet Pauly; and his brothers, Michael Keith Dronet and Christopher Paul Dronet.
Dana is survived by his daughter, Brandi Dronet Huff (Boyd); his stepdaughter, Corina Ladnier and her 2 children and 4 grandchildren; his stepdaughter, Reba Morales and her 4 children and 3 grandchildren; his stepson, George Sewell, Jr. and his 3 children; his sisters, Cheryl Dronet Gruich and Mary Dronet Rush; his brothers, Gary Dronet (Ann) and Mark Dronet (Linda); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 1:30 pm.
