Here is Dana's obituary in her own words:

"I lived a life marked by resilience, humor, and fierce love. Known affectionately as "Wonder Woman", a name lovingly given to me by my daughter Regan. I embodied strength through every chapter of my life. From an early age, I faced challenges with unwavering determination and a sharp wit that became part of my signature. My sarcastic humor was both a shield and a gift- one that brought laughter and light to those around me, or offended, depending on who you are :)

I was deeply passionate about animals and dedicated much of my time to dog rescue efforts until health challenges made it difficult to continue. My love for outdoors was evident in my joy for lake life, camping trips, and simply being surrounded by nature with those I cherished most.

My heart - both figuratively and literally - defined much of my journey. I battled heart issues from 2012 until my passing but never let illness define my spirit. My daughter Regan was the driving force behind my fight for life. I've often said Regan was my reason for living. That bond was unbreakable and central to everything I did.

I am survived by my beloved daughter Regan and devoted partner Mike Pendergrass; my mother Cathy Butler Brown; my sister Cara McClanahan; my niece Charlotte McClanahan and nephew Trey McClanahan. I also held close the memory of those who preceded me in death: my dad James Brown, Jr. and my grandmothers Betty Brown and Mea Butler.

I hope my legacy is one of courage, authenticity, and deep love for family and friends. I embraced life fully - boldly speaking my truth while holding space for others with compassion. Those who know me will remember not only the strength I carried but also the joy I hopefully brought to their lives. I hope my memory brings comfort to all who knew and loved me."

Dana requested no funeral services and was able to visit with many family and friends near the end of her life. Instead of flowers or gifts, she asked that any monetary donations be made to her sister for the care and education of Regan:
