Danette De Cannett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Messinger Mortuaries- Indian School Mortuary on Feb. 3, 2026.
Danette Jenee (De Vries) De Cannett, born to Raymond De Vries and Carol Mary (Mertz) De Vries, on February 16, 1970, in Kirkwood, Missouri, passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 55.

Danette grew up in Ellisville, Missouri, where she graduated from Lafayette High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Missouri–Columbia and later pursued the study of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in Southern California. She practiced Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in Southern California and in Scottsdale, Arizona. Through this medium she found meaning in helping many people with their health challenges. In the later part of her career, she had a passion for supporting women with fertility.

From a young age, Danette held a deep love and sensitivity towards nature, animals, family, and friends. She was a devoted daughter and loving sister and friend. Her strong faith guided her throughout her life. A free spirit with a boundless sense of adventure, she loved to travel, hike, and spend time outdoors-often accompanied by her beloved dogs. Her canine companions Torpedo, Duchess, Duke, Troubadour, Chelsea, and Gunther, who preceded her in death, were among her greatest joys.

Danette's warmth, positivity, and laughter illuminated every space she entered. She had an extraordinary gift for making friends easily and spreading joy wherever she went. She made her home in Missouri, Southern California, Arizona, and Hawaii. She left a trail of cherished memories in every place she lived.

Danette was survived by her parent;, Raymond and Carol De Vries, and siblings; Doug De Vries and Cherie Francios (sister-in-law), Darrin De Vries, and Dawn De Vries, and her ex-husband and life-long friend, Christopher De Cannett. She was also a proud aunt to five nephews and nieces, and one great-nephew. Her family and friends will forever remember her for her humor, kindness, and generous spirit.

Within the hearts of those who knew her remain countless stories of laughter, lighthearted mischief, and the kind of love that made every moment with her unforgettable. Danette's playful spirit, compassionate heart, and steadfast faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Blessed Assurance

Written by Fanny J, Crosby

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!

Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!

Heir of salvation, purchase of God,

Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Savior all the day long;

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,

Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;

Angels, descending, bring from above

Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest,

I in my Savior am happy and blessed,

Watching and waiting, looking above,

Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
