Daniel Abraham, affectionately known as Dan, peacefully passed away at the age of 90 on April 27, 2024. He was born on March 30, 1934, in Chicago, to the late Jacob and Miriam. Dan was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul (Sue) Abraham, George (Lavetta) Abraham, and Margaret (Sam) Daniels.
Dan spent his professional career as an engineer for General Telephone & Electrics. He was known for his dedication to his work and commitment to his family. A first-generation immigrant, Dan was determined to fulfill the dream his parents had coming to America. He built four homes in Palatine IL, Arlington Heights, IL, Lake Geneva, WI, and Venice, FL and spent many wonderful years golfing and playing competitive tennis with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife and the love of his life of 68 years, Mary Bernadette; children, Kathleen (John) Kruse of Torrington, Connecticut, and Karen (John) Mitmoen of Cary, Illinois and Craig Abraham of Loves Park, Illinois; grandchildren, Luke, Keith, Natalie, Jeanette, John Jr., Jacob, Bradley, and Danielle; great grandchildren, Reid, Lucy, Lincoln, Landon, Julian, Miles, Dallas, Hunter, Kendall, Beau, Jase and Ayda; and his dear nephew Sam (Judy) Daniels of Woodstock, IL.
The Abraham Family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Lake Barrington Woods and JourneyCare Hospice, for the exceptional care and circle of Love they provided Dan during his last days.
Visitation will be Friday, May 3, from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street, Barrington. Christian Memorial Mass will follow at 1:00pm at St. Anne Catholic Church - Chapel, 120 N. Ela Street, Barrington.
Dan served in Korea and has always been committed to supporting his fellow veterans. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at -Venice, FL and spent many wonderful years golfing and playing competitive tennis with his friends and family.
