Daniel Dale "Danny" Adkins, age 73 of Hardinsburg, KY died June 22, 2025, at the residence of his sister. He was born in Daviess County, KY on December 29, 1951, son of the late Omer and Dorothy Adkins. Danny was a retired railroad conductor with L & N and CSX Railroads. He spent many hours outdoors – hunting, fishing, gardening shooting trap and mowing his lawn. His "safe haven" was hanging out on the creek bank watching the sunset. He loved fall scenery and driving his Geo Tracker in the winter snows. He had such a big heart and played Santa Claus for his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister JoAnn Sterett.
Danny is survived by 7 brothers and sisters: Steve Adkins (Rose), David Adkins (Elaine), Darrell Adkins (Karen), Don Adkins (Rhonda), Betty Heavrin (Jim) and Debbie Metcalfe (Steve) of Hardinsburg, KY; Judy Triplett (Tommy) of Brandenburg, KY
Many nieces, nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11 AM with burial in the Sample Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 4- 8 PM and Thursday after 8 AM. All times are central.
