Daniel William Ahearn Sr., age 87, of Havertown, PA, passed away on January 26th, 2023.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (nee Murphy) Ahearn. Dan was the beloved husband to the late Lorraine C. Ahearn.
He was the loving father to Daniel Ahearn (Bernadette), Michael Ahearn (Joanna), Paul Ahearn (Paula), and John Ahearn (Colleen). He was a devoted grandfather of Daniel III, Kelly Ann, Brendan, Rebecca, Jennifer, Allison, John-Paul, Michael, Patrick, and Audrey. Predeceased by his 4 siblings, John, Joan, Elizabeth, and Edmund “Butch”.
Dan was a compassionate, generous, and loving man. He was all of this and more as a father and grandfather. He had a lust for life when it came to his family, watching his grandchildren play sports, spending time with friends at “Tip O’Leary’s”, and watching the Eagles play as he loved sports.
Dan and Lorraine enjoyed traveling together both as part of Dan’s work but also to the Shore with their many friends from Southwest Philly. He was a member of the Happy Creatures Club and the O’Mahoney Association.
Dan was a member of the West Catholic Class of 1954, and later received their Golden Burr Award. He worked as Treasurer of the Academy of Music for over twenty five years and served as President of IATSE Local 752 for over ten years.
He was a man that cared about people and gave generously to many causes, especially the Little Sisters of the Poor. He was a person that other people wanted to be around from the energy he had for family, life, and love.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Wednesday February 1, 2023, 7:00 PM-9:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor.
