Shanlee M. Pollack (née Kirsh), aged 98, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at The Solana Doylestown in Warrington, Pennsylvania. Born on January 18, 1928, in Philadelphia, PA, she was a cherished figure in her community and beloved by many.
Shanlee had a rich and fulfilling career that spanned several roles. A graduate of Collingswood High School in Collingswood, NJ, she began her professional journey as a Secretary at the Department of Pathology, Temple University School of Medicine, where she met her future husband, Howard, who was a Temple medical student at the time.
As a mother of three sons, Shanlee began a Medical Transcriptionist service to support her family while Howard pursued his radiology residency.
Shanlee’s career also included significant contributions as a Medical Research Coordinator at the Department of Radiology, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
After her sons were grown, Shanlee furthered her education at Temple University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in art history. She shared her knowledge and love of art as a long-standing docent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Shanlee was an enthusiastic collector of art, jewelry and antiques, with specific passions for Wedgewood ceramics, napkin holders and jade. She was also a talented artist, in both painting and sculpture. Shanlee was an avid globetrotter, and she explored numerous countries around the world with Howard. After his passing, Shanlee became an active member of Road Scholars, visiting historic sites. She was also a member of a retired executive and professional organization, where she gave lectures and presentations, sharing her knowledge with fellow members.
Shanlee was a member of the Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park, PA, where she participated actively in the community.
She is survived by a loving family, including her sons Andrew Pollack (Patti), Matthew Pollack (Denise), and Stuart Pollack (Maria); grandchildren Michael Ross Pollack, Brian Pollack (Lauren), Lara Pollack, Sean Hunsicker (Stacy), and Michael Hunsicker (Danielle); and great-grandchildren Amelia Andrews-Pollack, Jonathan Hunsicker, Sarah Hunsicker, and Kieran Hunsicker. Shanlee was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Howard M. Pollack, MD.
Services will be held at Har Jehuda Cemetery, 8400 Lansdowne Ave, Upper Darby, PA, on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 1:00 PM. The arrangements are under the care of Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Funeral Directors, located at 6410 N Broad Street Philadelphia, PA 19126.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, 8339 Old York Rd, Elkins Park, PA 19027, in memory of Shanlee Pollack. Shanlee's legacy of love, art, and community involvement will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
