Daniel Lawrence Bartlein

Daniel Lawrence Bartlein, 74, of Postville, Iowa passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Dan was born October 25, 1950 to Donald and Beverly (Edwards) Bartlein in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dan graduated from New Berlin High with the class of 1968. After graduating, Dan enlisted in the United States Army in 1969 and served three years.
Following the military, Dan married Katherine Stricker, to this union three children were born; Becky, Justin and Sam. They later divorced. On January 8, 1983 Dan was united in marriage with Hope Swenson in Waukon, Iowa. To this union three children were born; Israel, Joy and Isaiah.
Dan owned and operated Bartlein Construction in Northeast Iowa and worked until his retirement in 2020. He loved listening to music, playing his guitar and cruising with the windows down. Dan was blessed with the gift of humor and shared that gift with all who crossed his path. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and delighted in watching or listening to their games on the radio. Dan has had numerous beloved canines in his life and he enjoyed each and every one. His greatest joy was spending time and laughing with his family.
While we wish Dan could be here with us today, we are honored to celebrate his wonderful life and the memories we all have shared with him. He truly brought an immense amount of joy and laughter into our lives and we will miss him immensely.
Dan is survived by: his wife Hope, his children Becky and Tim Ruroden, Justin Bartlein, Sam and Rana Bartlein, Israel Bartlein, Joy and Jaime Ramos and Isaiah Bartlein, his grandchildren: Alex, Jayden, Noah, Kiaya Ruroden, Josiah and Micah Minikwu, Elisa Ramos, and Leo and Eva Bartlein, great-grandchildren Kaleb and Elijah Ruroden, and his siblings: Kathy Bartlein, Judy Bierbower, Cheryl Wenzel and Bonnie Pope, along with many nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother.
A Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home in Postville, Iowa.
Inurnment will follow at Post Township Cemetery, North of Postville, Iowa.
Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Postville, Iowa is assisting the family with services.
