Daniel “Danny” E. Berney, age 83 of Jefferson City, TN, went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City. He was an avid history lover and reader. He served in the Air Force and then retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 35 years of service. He had a strong love for his family and lived a life of determination, strong principles, and willpower.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Gerald and Mickey Berney; brother, Steve Berney; and twin sisters, Melissa and Sarah Berney. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty Berney; daughters, Allison (Mike) Herron, Karen (Kyle) Loveday, and Kim Curl; grandchildren, Craig (Christia) McGhee, Stephen (Megan) Skeen, Chase (Kenzie) McGhee, Caitlyn Loveday, Sydney Curl, and Valerie Curl; great grandchildren, Cambree and Cayne; brother, Pat (Barbara) Berney; and special thanks to U.T. Hospice and special caregivers, Kelly Murphy and Carolyn Soward.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Farrar Funeral Home. A military graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kristie Banes officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Jefferson City or Second Harvest Food Bank.
