Daniel M Brooks, 83, of Mahwah, NJ passed away on February 13, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dan took to law and accountancy early on, taking a college internship at then J. H. Cohn & Co (now CohnReznick), where he spent much of his professional career, earning a JD, CPA, and partnership. He would later continue his estate planning practice with Rosenberg, Rich, Baker, & Berman.
Despite the time demands of tax seasons and complex estates, Dan had a steadfast commitment to the community. He made time to serve on the National Guard, serve as Treasurer for Temple B'Nei Or, and participate in charitable activities.
A talent at chess and tennis, Dan continued his lifelong passions by introducing his grandchildren to the former and making solid use of the latter to meet new friends on the courts.
Dan was predeceased by his parents Philip and Evelyn Brooks. He is survived by his wife Barbara, brother Neil (Nora), children Mark, Ted (Naomi), Tamara (Jon), Jamie (William), Howard (Sharon), Jen (Dave), his grandchildren Samantha (Chris), Joshua, Zachary, Jacob, Matthew, Ben, Max, Jocelyn, Abigayle, Zoe, Sophie, Jules and his great-granddaughter Cecilia.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, February 16 at 12:30 p.m. at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah, Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ 07652.
