Daniel Herbert Brown, affectionately known to all as Dan, was a beacon of joy and an embodiment of generosity. Born on September 17, 1955, in Hastings, Michigan, he graced the world for 70 wonderful years before departing this life on December 28, 2025, at the Corewell Butterworth hospital in Grand Rapids, surrounded by the love of his family.
A proud graduate of Grand Haven High School, Dan embraced life with an outgoing spirit that endeared him to everyone he met. His laughter was infectious, often lighting up the dinner table as he playfully teased his siblings, creating memories that will linger in their hearts forever. His natural humor and playful nature made every gathering feel like a celebration.
As a veteran of the US Navy, Dan served his country with honor, receiving an honorable discharge in 1977. This chapter of his life echoed his commitment to service, a quality he carried into all aspects of his daily living. Throughout his life, he exhibited a steadfast dedication to his family and friends, being there for them in times of need. His generous heart was paired with an unwavering spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a laugh over his favorite pastime: enjoying Natural ice beer while jamming to rock music or tuning in to Free Beer and Hot Wings.
Dan had a genuine love for the great outdoors, often seen riding his electric bike, cruising along with friends, and soaking up the sunshine. His grandchildren, Cameron and Haley, brought immense joy to his life. He cherished every moment spent guiding them to school and helping with drivers training, and he was an unwavering source of support and love for them.
Left to honor his memory are his beloved children: Chris Brown and his wife Lindsay LaFrance; Shannon Conkle and her family; Mandy Mazzole; Marcy Brown; and Daniel Brown. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister Marilyn Brown Wolters and brother-in-law Randy Wolters along with their children. His cherished friendships with Paul and Linda Vandonkaleer, Bradley and Teresa Cramer, and Craig Stillson exemplified his ability to connect deeply with those around him.
In the hearts of those who knew him, Dan's legacy will forever endure. He is greeted in heaven by his loving parents, Herbert and Marion Brown, his brothers Gordan and Chris R. Brown, and dear friends Duke Miller and Karen Gould. Though he has departed from this world, the memories of his vibrant spirit and loving nature will continue to uplift and inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, dear Dan; you will be missed beyond words.
