Daniel Calhoun Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Generations Funeral Home & Crematory - Tomahawk on Mar. 31, 2026.
Daniel "Dan" J. Calhoun, age 66, of Tomahawk, WI, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Dan was born in Tomahawk, WI, on July 13, 1959, to the late David and Elaine (Pyykonen) Calhoun.

A lifelong resident of Tomahawk, Dan graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1977 where he made a name for himself as a talented and dedicated athlete. His passion for sports carried throughout his life from his early days racing motocross in the 1970s to his love of racquetball and trap shooting in later years. Dan began his working career at Johnson Brothers in Tomahawk before finding his long-term home at Tomahawk Sports Center where he worked for the remainder of his life. In his younger years, Dan was affectionately known as "Disco Dan," lighting up dance floors with his love for disco dancing. He was also a founding member of the rock band "Storm".

Survivors include his brothers, Jeffrey (Michelle) Calhoun and Timothy (Jennifer) Calhoun; his sisters, Debra (Travis) Calhoun and Susan (John) Edwarsen; his nephews, Cody, Gunnar, Eric, Dustin, and Zildjian; and his nieces, Katie, Brittnee, Lizzy, and Terrell. Dan is further survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Elaine; and his son-in-law, Terry Travis.

A visitation for Dan will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Generations Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Following the visitation, a celebration of life will continue at the Gin Mill where everyone is welcome. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
