Daniel Edward Cambre

September 27, 1940-January 23, 2026

Daniel Edward Cambre passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 23, 2026. He was 85, a native of New Orleans, LA. After marriage to his high school sweetheart Mary, they settled into a home in New Orleans. Daniel, known as "Dee" to family and friends, started a successful business, Star Auto Glass, and worked for years to expand the glass and mirror business into metropolitan area locations. Dee met many national glass suppliers and local business owners through his contracts with automobile dealerships. He made many friends in this network and was known for his creative glass and mirror designs for local theaters and office buildings. Later he opened D's Glass City which he eventually sold to finally retire.

Dee and Mary moved with their three daughters to the Bucktown area of Metairie. "Mr. Dee" made new friends quickly in this neighborhood through his hobbies of crabbing, shrimping, duck hunting, but most of all fishing. His fishing skills and knowledge drew many more friends and family members to his side. He was known in Bucktown as the man to go fishing with. He spent his retirement years enjoying fishing trips, planting vegetables and caring for his garden, cooking with his wife, chatting with his friends on his back porch and at the Bonnabel Boat Launch, and laughing with his local restauranteurs and staff, whom he loved, on his weekly breakfast and lunch visits after the loss of his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. and Danielle Cambre, his loving wife Mary Peranich Cambre, his sister Kay Frey, and his brother Jay Cambre. He is survived by his three daughters Dale Ann Miller (late John) Andrea' Woolsey (Edward), and Hope Webb, his brothers, Tee and Charlie and sisters, Vee and GeeGee. He is survived by 8 grandchildren Kalli (Ryan) Darci (Jordan) Faith (Andrew) Annette (Rob) Sara (Jonny) Logan (Amaris) Corey (Brooke) and Holli (Paul) and 8 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Appreciation is extended from the daughters to Joey and Lisa for being great and caring friends to Dee, and to Katrina, Felicia, and Earlene for private home care. Many thanks are extended to the staff of Anvoi Hospice for providing guidance and home care as well.

Dee was deeply loved and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at 10am with a memorial service at 11am on February 4, 2026, at Tharp Funeral Home, 1600 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA 70001.
