Daniel Campagna Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home - Wichita Falls on Jul. 31, 2022.
Daniel Monroe Campagna, 56, of Wichita Falls, TX, passed away on July 26, 2022 after a courageous four year battle with colon cancer.
Dan's Celebration Of Life will take place on Tuesday, August 2nd at 2:00 pm at the downtown campus of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, TX with Dr. Bob McCartney officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers are Dominic Campagna II, David Campagna, Shawn Blacklock, Joe D. Bloodworth, Brad Coors, Perry Curry, Tim McCord, Dr. Gary Ozier, Pat Powers, and Tom Stephens.
Dan "The Big Nasty" Campagna was born on November 6, 1965 to Dominic and Mary Louise (Barnes) Campagna in Los Angeles, California. After graduating from S.H. Rider High School in Wichita Falls, TX in 1984, he went on to attend Henderson County Junior College before transferring to the University of Alabama and then to the University of North Texas before an injured knee ended his football dreams.
Dan was an entrepreneur with a magnetic personality. In 1994, he and his brother David started Construction Bolt & Fasteners where they worked side by side for the last 28 years. In 2000, Dan, again with his brother, followed a lifelong dream of opening a restaurant, Texas Moon.
In August of 1990, Dan's friend Skip Riddle dared him to ask out the next girl to walk into the Get-In-Go Convenience Store. That woman was Michelle Dye. They wed one year later in 1991. In 1998, they welcomed their son, Dominic Paul Campagna II, the pride and joy of Dan's life. Dan and Michelle spent 32 years devoted to each other.
Dan enjoyed a variety of activities from hunting, fishing, and biking, to traveling all over the world with family and friends. Most of all, he enjoyed the freedom he felt at Possum Kingdom Lake. What he loved more than any of these activities was all of the people he befriended. Dan truly lived and loved larger than life.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Mary Louise Campagna, and a sister Paula Bowie. He is survived by wife Michelle and son Dominic; brother David and wife Jennifer Campagna of Wichita Falls; sister Michelle and husband Dwayne Leverett of Wichita Falls; sister Lynn and husband Ron Dickson of Paris, TX sister-in-law Deidre Lewis of Denton, TX; brother-in-law Joel Dye of Denton, TX; nephew Mark Barlet and husband Michael Kerley of Harpers Ferry, WV; and nieces Lauren and Brian Graham and their children of Mansfield, TX, Melanie Schmidt and husband Master Sergeant Sebastian Schmidt and their children of Crestview, FL, Jordan Campagna Jackson and husband Chris, Kacie Campagna, Daryl Campagna, Mikayla Leverett West and husband Hayden, all of Wichita Falls. He also leaves behind many cousins.
Special acknowledgement to Dan's sister, Michelle Leverett, for providing loving care to Dan over the past several months. The family would also like to thank the many nurses and doctors who fought alongside Danny throughout his battle.
For those desiring, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX 76310.
