Daniel P. Cantara Jr, 71, of Goffstown, and formerly of Maidstone Dr. Merrimack, died May 15, 2006 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born in Biddeford, ME on Sept. 20, 1934 a son of the late Daniel P. and Helen (Hill) Cantara. Mr. Cantara attended University of Maine and George Washington University, and received his Bachelors degree in accounting from NH College. Before his illness he was employed at Sanders Assoc. and later Lockheed Sanders as an accountant for several years. He had been active in several community groups including, the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce, Merrimack Kiwanis, and the Merrimack Exchange Club. Mr. Cantara was also active in the MYA Assoc. and served as Past President. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Merrimack. Mr. Cantara was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War. He is pre-deceased by a sister Janice Roy. Members of his family include his wife Lorraine R. (Courtois) Cantara of Merrimack, a son and daughter in-law, Michael & Diane Cantara of Nashua, a daughter and son in-law, Pamela & Stephen Tisa, of Merrimack, twin grandsons, Sean & Alexander Tisa, a brother Paul Cantara, of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are at the George R. Rivet Funeral Home Inc., 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH Thursday from 5-7 PM. Funeral service will be held at 7 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family requests memorial contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 2 Wellman Ave, Nashua, NH 03064.
