Daniel "Dan" Curtis Capen was called home to be with Jesus on February 15, 2025 at the age of 76. Born to David and Alice Capen, on November 22, 1948 Dan was raised with his siblings David "Kelly", Wayne, and April. Dan married Susan Eileen Smith on September 4, 1981 and together they raised their 6 children Sheila, Rachael, Daniel, Faith, Sunnie, and Leeanne. Dan retired from Royal Maid in Hazlehurst after working there for many years. Dan loved God more than anything or anyone and his greatest desire was to see souls led to The Lord. He was a member of Springs of Praise World Outreach Center in Crystal Springs where he loved and was loved by his church family. Dan enjoyed raising farms animals, especially the many goats he raised and cared for. He was a very talented carpenter and over the years has built many impressive things.
He was preceded in death by his father David Curtis Capen, his mother Alice Eileen Capen and his brother David "Kelly" Casey Capen.
He is survived by his wife Susan Eileen Capen, son Daniel Capen, daughters Sheila Ainsworth (Adrian), Rachael McDaniel, Faith Reaume (Matthew), Sunnie Olinde (Noel) and Leeanne Burns (Herbert), and grandchildren Linda, Rachel and Lauren Ainsworth, Timothy, Addison and Kayti McDaniel, Naomi and Judah Reaume, Jayden, Isaiah, Selah and Luna Olinde, and Ryder and Karson Burns
The arrangements are being handled by Stringer Family Funeral Services, Crystal Springs. Services will be held on Thursday; February 20 as follows:
Visitation will be held at Springs of Praise World Outreach Center at 10:00am followed by the service celebrating the life of Daniel "Dan" Curtis Capen at 11:00am. Graveside service will follow at Wesson Cemetery.
Officiating ministers will be Rev. Darrel Blankenship and Bro. Gene Evans.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Reaume, Noel Olinde, Herbert Burns, Gene Evans, Johnny Mora, and Rusty Norton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Springs of Praise Food Pantry.
