Beverly Capen

Beverly Jean Capen, 89, Springfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025 following a short illness.
She was born March 8, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri the daughter of the late Ed and Goldie (Garner) Robinson. She united in marriage May 7, 1955 in St. Louis to John B. Capen.
Following High School, Bev studied Home Economics at the University of Missouri in Columbia. She and John moved to Springfield in 1959.
She enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises, playing Mah Jongg and reading. She was a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Ladies, Twin Oaks Country Club and the Elk's Lodge. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, John; two daughters, Karen Kathka and her husband Roger, and Patty Kutz and her husband David; a grandson, Michael Kutz and his wife Bethany; a granddaughter, Heather Cantin and her husband Jonathan; two grandsons, Greyson and Beckett; two nephews, Elmer and Kevin Kaegel; several great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Elk's Lodge, 2223 E. Bennett Street, Springfield, MO
