Wanda Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by J.D. Lee & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home on Mar. 15, 2026.
Wanda May Smith passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Copper Rock Village in Rogersville, Missouri.

She was born to Raymond and Dorothy Strunk on June 6, 1939, in Douglas County, Missouri, and was raised in a loving family alongside her siblings. She lived a life centered around family, laughter, and fun. Those who knew Wanda will remember her for her caring nature and the passion she had for living life to the fullest with those around her.

Wanda loved entertaining and taking care of others. If you came to Wanda's house, you could count on laughter, good food, and a full plate. She loved to cook and never wanted anyone to miss a meal. She also had a great passion for college basketball and especially loved cheering on her Memphis Tigers. Fishing for crappie, bowling, and playing softball were also dear passions of hers. Wanda loved a good poker match and never passed up a trip to the casino.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy Strunk; three sisters; three brothers; and her granddaughter, Melissa Vestal.

Wanda is survived by her children, John Barnett and his wife, Cindi; Cindy Ritter; and Carmen Brandster. She is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie Kennedy and Roseanne Dunn; and her brothers, Jerry Strunk and Steve Strunk. Wanda leaves behind a loving legacy through her seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will continue to carry her memory forward.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at JD Lee Funeral Home in Rogersville, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Wanda will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kitchen, laughter, and love will forever live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and her love for family and generous spirit will remain a lasting legacy.
