Daniel Cislo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Sep. 4, 2025.
Daniel F. Cislo, age 84, of Tecumseh, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 31, 2025 with his family at his side. Dan was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 14, 1941 to the late Walter and Helen Cislo. He spent the days of his youth in the company of his parents, stepmother, siblings, and friends. Dan attended St. Andrew High School where he graduated in 1959. That is where he first met the love of his life, Dorothy. Dan and Dorothy's love endured and grew even as Dan proudly served in the US Air Force and was deployed to Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from service in 1963. He returned to Dorothy and they were married on May 15, 1965. Dan and Dorothy settled into their Detroit home and attended St. Thomas Aquinas Church. They welcomed their first child (Deanne) in 1966 and their second child (Daniel) in 1967. To help support his growing family, Dan worked as a barber from 1966 to 1976. In 1976, he continued his education at Henry Ford Community College where he earned his certification as an electrician. Dan went on to work as an Electrician/Skilled Trades Foreman for General Motors for 28 years. Dan and Dorothy left Detroit in 1996 and settled into their new home in Tecumseh, Michigan. The transition to rural living excited Dan. He was able to expand his love of gardening into a much larger space. He and Dorothy loved sharing the fresh and canned garden yield with family and friends. Many family gatherings were held at the home in Tecumseh. Most recently, Dan and Dorothy hosted a party in honor of their 60th wedding anniversary. Dan was best known for making his famous sauce for the shrimp cocktail for parties. You could also find him seated at a table playing a serious game of euchre. Woe to the partner that accidentally trumped his ace! Dan also enjoyed quiet times. He spent many hours fishing with family and friends at the cottage on Grand Lake. A devout Catholic, he regularly attended mass at Immaculate Conception Church and prayed each day. Dan's loving family includes his wife Dorothy (Vlcek) Cislo, children Deanne (Greg) Murphy, Daniel J. (Suzanne) Cislo, grandsons Sean (Christy) Murphy, Ryan (Sierra) Murphy, James (Kaylee) Cislo, and Daniel (Shyanne) Cislo. Siblings: The late Ray (Gail) Cislo, Jerry (Carol) Cislo, Joe (Shirley) Cislo, Mary Ann (Ed) Harkins, Hattie (the late Bob) Loftis, Theresa (the late Ray) Kotzian, the late Jerry Wroblewski, Jim (Joy) Vlcek, and many nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents: Walter Cislo, Helen Cislo, and Stepmother Irene Cislo. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Saturday, September 13th at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Milan, MI from 10:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. A Mass of Chsitian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Peter Lawrence as Celebrant. A luncheon will follow and will be held at the Church. Private inurnment will take place at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI at a future time.
