Daniel ("Dan") Clabe Coffman, 74, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 3, 2025 at home.

Dan was born to Clabe and Ruby Coffman on November 9, 1950.

Dan spent his working years as a senior systems analyst and programmer. He spent over sixteen years working for Aventis Pharmaceuticals, where he was a senior lead analyst and project manager achieving awards for advanced logistics databases he developed. Later, Dan advanced to senior asset development lead, teaching future programmers advanced database techniques.

While growing up, Dan, his parents, siblings, and extended family traveled extensively. They spent countless family trips camping and fishing, a tradition which he shared later with his own children. Dan loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, boating, and fly fishing with his family. He also enjoyed going to the Indianapolis 500 races, drag races, and other racing events with his brothers and children.

Dan was previously married to Faye Baxter, with whom he shared four children.

Dan was a devoted father, son, brother, and uncle, as well as a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather. He raised his children to be kind to all. Dan spent many years coaching his children's various sports teams while they were growing up. Regardless of how busy he was, he always made time for his children.

Dan was unpretentious and kind with a smile ready for everyone. Although he did not come from privilege, he was generous. Whether it was friendly advice, a disc, or a ride, Dan was always willing to go out of his way to help others. Dan never met a stranger and was known to talk for extremely extended periods of time with others, whether he knew them or not. Dan was well-liked both at work and in his active life.

Dan was well known for his muscle cars, and love of his Ford Mustangs, of which he owned at least 7 during his lifetime, ranging from the 60's to the 90's. He loved to work on his cars and faithfully maintained and cleaned his vehicles.

He was highly competitive in all things he pursued and enjoyed sharing a little friendly trash talk while doing it. He was very athletic and enjoyed working out and riding his bike. He played baseball, basketball, volleyball, and was an avid disc golfer. If it was a nice day, you would typically find Dan on the course, playing a round or two with his group of friends or strangers, it didn't matter which. Dan was always quick to impart his wisdom upon those new to the game and was a mentor to many disc golfers over the years.

This great man will live on, forever cherished in the hearts and minds of every person who had the privilege to know him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clabe Coffman; his mother, Ruby Coffman; his sister, Diane Coffman; his brother-in-law, Frank Nachtmann; and his granddaughter, Brianna Coffman.

Dan is survived by his children, Eric (Elna) Coffman of Liberty, Missouri; Hannah Nelson of Blue Springs, Missouri; Caleb (Sarah) Coffman of Smithville, Missouri; Lori Coffman of Grain Valley, Missouri; grandchildren (Brandon Elkins, Austin Wright, Jared Nelson, Mason Mreen, Yasmin Scott, Willow Piedimonte, Josephine Coffman, Chandler Coffman and Phebe Coffman); great-grandchildren (Jedidiah, Aster, McKinley and Olive); his brother Lynn (Barbara) Coffman of Merriam, Kansas; sister Sherry Nachtmann of Blue Springs, Missouri; brother Mark Coffman, of Columbia, Missouri;, and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Blue Springs Elks Lodge. The family will begin receiving friends at 11:00 a.m., with the Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00 p.m.
